history of CMS

Country Montessori serves children ages 2.9 months to 12  years in our Primary, Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary programs.   We closely follow the education principles set forth by Dr. Maria Montessori. 

Our campus is situated on nearly 3 acres of mature trees, with a children's garden, barnyard animals, and multiple play areas, Country Montessori offers an intimate homelike environment. The school is located in northwest Poway, just north of San Diego, California. 

Country Montessori is affiliated with and recognized by the American Montessori Society (AMS). AMS maintains the highest standards of Montessori philosophical integrity and professional training.  All directresses at Country Montessori hold credentials and/or are in training in AMS accredited programs; AMI (American Montessori Internationale), MACTE (Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education) or NAMTA (North American Montessori Teacher Association).  Country Montessori receives periodic and valuable AMS consultation to ensure we maintain the highest standards in Montessori education.

A Board of Directors and Board-appointed Administrator operate the school.  An incorporated non-profit school, CMS adheres to the traditional Montessori philosophy and is affiliated with the American Montessori Society.  The primary and elementary directresses develop the curriculum based on the methods of Maria Montessori.

As an extension of our founding philosophy, parents are strongly encouraged to be involved in the school's community as active Board members and volunteers in those areas in which they have expertise. We believe your participation is vital to the success of your children's education.
