Food Drive/Feeding San Diego
Our annual Feeding San Diego Volunteer event is this Thursday, and we are hosting a food drive this week to collect food to bring with us to the event. Donation boxes will be in each classroom until Thursday afternoon, and the items most needed are:
Peanut butter & nuts
Canned fish or chicken white meat
Canned fruits in natural juices or dried fruit with no sugar added
Canned chicken, tomato or vegetable soup
Whole grain oatmeal or cereal
(Please, no glass.)
Food Sorting Event @ Feeding San Diego – Must be 6 years old to participate
Thank you to those who have signed up to volunteer your time with Feeding San Diego this Thursday at 6pm. We look forward to seeing you all and making a difference this holiday season! If you have not signed up yet, there are still spots available! Please email eva.rayburn@gmail.com to sign up. Please remember that children must be at least 6 years old to volunteer.
IMPORTANT ITEMS:
Please arrive a few minutes ahead of time (5:45) to allow for sign in and completion of paper waivers.
Closed-toe shoes are required.
The distribution center can be a bit chilly. A sweatshirt or jacket layer is suggested.
Please wear proper work clothes that you do not mind getting dirty.
Leave valuables in your vehicle.
No food or drinks allowed in the warehouse- only closed, bottled water.
Please no horseplay in the warehouse. This includes running, riding pallet jacks, or standing on pallets.
All volunteers must be 6 years old to enter the warehouse.
City of Poway’s Water Advisory
Thank you to our entire CMS community for the support and understanding last week. The ban was lifted on December 6 and all sinks, water coolers and fountains are back in use. Thank you again for the team work!
Child Care on Thursday, December 19 and December 20
Child care closes at 5:00 PM on December 19 and there will not be child care on Friday, December 20, our first day of the Winter Break.
Winter Break Child Care
CMS will be closed for Winter break starting Friday December 20th through Friday January 3rd. Child care may be available Monday Dec. 23rd, Thursday Dec. 26th, Friday Dec. 27th, Monday Dec. 30th, Thursday Jan. 2nd, & Friday Jan. 3rd if we have a minimum of 20 students sign up for child care. If you would like to sign up please email Jose Bolanos to inform him which days you would like and if you will need half-day (less than 5 hours – $25) or full-day (over 5 hours – $45). Please contact Jose no later than Friday, December 13th if you need to sign up for child care.
Lunch Orders Starting January
It is once again time to sign up for hot lunches if you wish to receive or continue receiving lunch delivery. Lunch ordering will open on RenWeb on Wednesday December 11th. Please place your order at your earliest convenience to ensure lunches are ready to go when we return from winter break.
Lunches must be ordered a minimum of 1 week prior to be included in the following week’s lunch order. This is to ensure that we have time to process order and submit to our vendor.
The daily lunch menu is listed across multiple weeks. ONLY add a single item on a single week to sign up. Lunch orders are set for January through June.

Click Create Web Order
List of lunch options will display starting on 12/11 (this is to allow ordering, lunches begin on January 13th).
Select lunch you want by inputting 1 for quantity for the item you want
Only order one item per day of week
Bottom of page will show the total for all lunch items order
Once all you lunch selections are made click Order Items
Lunch Orders are paid at the time of placing the order. Your lunch order is not completed until the electronic bank transfer payment is processed.
CMS Walk-a-thon
We had a beautiful day on Dec. 5th and were able to hold the walk-a-thon.
All the students did an amazing job and had lots of fun. Thank you to all our amazing families for supporting this event and thanks to those who were able to attend and cheer for everyone.
On Friday Dec. 6th we had an ice cream party for all our wonderful runners/ walkers to acknowledge the great job they did.
If you have not shared your walk-a-thon pages there is still time. The online donation page will remain open until Dec 15th.
Lost and Found
Please remember to check the lost and found for any missing items. Any items not picked up will be donated on Friday January 10th.
