Change for Change

Dear Parents,

An important mission here at CMS is Global Citizenship. Last year, our 5th level students researched various charities and all CMS families were asked to review their research proposals and vote for their favorite charity organization to adopt. The chosen organization was the World Wildlife Fund (“WWF”), the largest conservation organization in the world. The group’s mission is “to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.”

To continue with this initiative, we are kicking off a “Change for Change” fundraiser benefitting the WWF. Tomorrow, your children will be decorating and bringing home change buckets in which we ask your families to contribute any spare change from now until the end of May. Please send your child to school with any change collected each Monday. The classroom that has collected the most change in each 2 week period will gain custody of a plush giant panda, the mascot of the WWF and of this fundraiser.

Last year’s 5th level students chose an endangered animal for each classroom, and all monies raised will be donated to WWF to benefit these, and other threatened animals. The animals are as follows:

Owls: Pangolin

Eagles: Leatherback Turtle

Ladybugs: Yangtze Finless Porpoise

Dragonflies: Saola

Bumblebees: South China Tiger

Thank you for all of your help in supporting this important school initiative! If you have any questions, feel free to contact Eva Rayburn
